Somebody out there-I'm quitting smoking(tobacco), how long before I quit being so irritable?
This nicotine gum is really terrible!

`nicotine gum didn't work for me at all, talk about getting just mean.
Have you tried Chantix? No nicotine replacements I found worked. Chantix was almost within 24 hrs...it just wipes out the craving. Cigarrettes dont even sound or look good at all on Chantix..neither dose coffee. But I drank Sprite hand over fist..I was craving that constantly it seemed. There are side effects on Chantix such as terrible nightmares and depression (they say it is from the medication but since there are no other withdrawal symptoms it makes sense to me the body may have some reaction to the nicotine suddenly leaving the body ya know)..anyway..good luck! (no i did not become irritable at all on Chantix either...just very mellow.)

I went cold turkey when I quit, and after the fact, it seemed to me, that it was the best route for me.
The suffering was the good thing. The intensity of the suffering I went through reminds me to never pick the habit back up, and I never will, because quitting was too hard. After I got towards that first week, it got pretty bad. I just kept telling myself that I hadn't come this far for nothing; to start back up again was to cause that suffering for nothing.

`i quit four and a half months ago and deciding to quit was the hardest part for me. i got Commit lozenges in the lowest dosage. i still use them on occassion. i only used maybe 5 or 6 before i was 100% sure i was not going to go back.
i want to smoke every day. and i will not do it. i refuse to be under somethings power

`I quit smoking cigs around the end of May. I used the patches, I started with the first step, and after about 12 days I went and bought the 3rd step and used those. I found what really helped me to quit was eating lollipops when I was doing something where I would normally have a cig. In moderation, they give you the habitual hand-to-mouth action that you would get, and they taste SOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!
The iritability is something that will go away, I dont have any cravings anymore and when I find myself wwanting a cig, I just have to get up or start focusing on something else.
Now that I have completely quit I feel like I should have quit a long time ago.. People dont realize all the time they waste to ciggarettes, not only people who die from them but the actual process of smoking them is literally a waste of time. I feel soo much better now than I ever did when i was a smoker.
Dont give up the hard times will go away and it will be very worth it!!!

`Yeh, smoking was a way to procrastinate for me...and now that I've quit I feel kinda guilty for the time wasting I did.
And my kids are happy I've quit too, they would worry when I'd go outside to smoke. One less thing to feel guilty about.
So, its been since July...it feels like longer, but, I have kicked the habit...
And I don't smell like cigarettes anymore. Thats nice.

`i am almost at my 6 month mark. i cant believe i was okay with smelling so BAD... it hadnt really bothered me, smelling others who smoke, now that i dont - until today. i had to keep moving away it was disgusting.
its like my smell and taste are more sensitive now.
but i miss it every day, every day, every day.
